We get youtube home page comes up, password is okay and my signin name is okay. I use a laptop (toshitba). I also cannot play videos from yahoo video page. Help!
I am unable to sign into my account on youtube. What would be blocking my access?
If this is the first time that this happened to you,
I wouldn't worry too long. Many times every day,
YouTube shuts down some of their own servers
in order to update various stuff.
I'm beginning to see many questions like yours
on Yahoo!, so I did a ton of googling, searching
and reading -- going through all kinds variations,
combinations, permutations and search results
for:
-- "youtube", "password"
-- "username", "user name"
-- "log", "login", "log-in"
-- "sign", "signin", "sign-in"
-- "doesn't let me", "does not let me"
-- "won't let me", "will not let me"
-- "can't log", "cannot log"
-- "doesn't log", "does not log"
-- "won't log", "will not log"
as well as using the word "sign" instead of "log".
After all of that time, the best that I could come
up with for you are these possibilities:
1) There could be something going on with your
security software or "Firewall". Perhaps it is not
permitting you to send out any of your personal
info -- or if you are a very young person, maybe
your parents have put a "block" on it.
2) If you're using Firefox, your problem could be
related to "cookies" or "exceptions". If "cookies"
are accepted, YouTube might be an "exception".
Therefore, you should either "allow" YouTube to
store "cookies" or simply remove YouTube from
the "exceptions" list. You can access all of this
by clicking Tools %26gt; Options %26gt; Privacy.
3) I don't know why, but one person on a forum
discussion thread said he did "CTRL" with "F5",
and for some reason it worked for him.
4) There's a grainy YouTube video of an old lady
with a rather clever idea: delete your passwords.
Things can sometimes get messy if a computer
has many IDs and passwords. For example, I'm
'inukjuak89' on YouTube, 'inukjuak90' on Yahoo,
and other names on different sites. Also, all my
passwords are different as well.
Thus, one thing you may want to do is to check
all your passwords. Believe it or not, she states
you can actually see every one inside of Firefox.
(I don't know because I'm a true devotee of IE6.)
Here are her instructions plus the YouTube link:

5) The only other thing that I can think of is that
there is a false "cookie" that has installed itself
on your computer and that it is now sending out
wrong information. Even if you don't think that is
the case, delete your "cache" of all its "cookies".
While you are at it, do the same with all of your
"temporary internet files" and your "history" -- in
order to reset everything. Whatever problem you
may be having, this is something you should be
doing at least every couple weeks:
Internet Explorer 6:
鈫?Tools 鈫?Internet Options
鈫?Delete Cookies 鈫?OK
鈫?Delete Files 鈫?OK
鈫?Clear History 鈫?Yes
鈫?OK
Internet Explorer 7:
鈫?Tools 鈫?Internet Options 鈫?Delete...
鈫?Delete files 鈫?Yes
鈫?Delete cookies 鈫?OK
鈫?Delete history 鈫?OK
鈫?Close (browsing history window)
鈫?OK
Mozilla Firefox
鈫?Tools 鈫?Clear Private Data
[x] Browsing History
[x] Download History
[x] Saved Form and Search History
[x] Cache
[x] Cookies
鈫?Clear Private Data Now
Please email me if any of these quasi-solutions
does the trick for you, so that I may incorporate
them into my future Yahoo!Answers whenever a
similar question comes up.
Here are the links to two websites you may find
interesting if you use Firefox:

Reply:Well If you can sign in to youtube then there is no problem with that, if not the you tube network is preforming maintenance or whatever...
If you do sign in you might have to download / update your flash player or java platform...
does this help?
