I think it is $300 but im not exactly sure

I think you are thinking of the balance required to avoid a monthly service charge. You may be right as many savings accounts have that $300 requirement. But it is only to avoid a service charge, not to open an account.

Reply:Credit union usually has $5.00 minimum. It varies from bank to bank. However, most banks it is less than $100.
