What's the best bank to open an account with?

I would like to open a new bank account but am indecisive as to which bank would be best for me. I obviously don't want to pay fees for every little single thing. Who do you bank with?
What's the best bank to open an account with?
The Bank of the Mattress.... NO fees, NO waiting in line, 24 hour ATM machine, friendly service.
Reply:Your best bet would be a credit union, as evidenced by the other responses.
Reply:I have an account with Bank of America and I really like their service. Since I have direct deposit, I pay no fees and get free on line bill pay, a check card Visa with my picture on it (better than just a signature).
Reply:I prefer credit unions to banks. I use ArVest bank, Northern Schools Federal Credit Union, and Auburn University Credit Union.
Reply:I haven't really found a great bank, but I can tell you not to bank with Bank of America... they are very strict with fees. Most banks offer free checking with direct deposit though. Bank North isn't too bad if they are in your area.
Reply:One that doesn't nickle and dime you to death--- look for one that offers the highest interest on your money and will give you a simple interest loan --- (without you mentioning the simple interest) --- (If it happens let me know!)
Reply:there all pretty much the same. i would just read up on different banks. try Wells Fargo. that's a good one
Reply:i have a account wit keybank its real gud
Reply:NOT Wells Fargo. They nickle and dime you for EVERYTHING
Reply:I would personally recommend a community bank. They will have the lowest fees and the best customer service. If good customer service is not important (you do everything online, etc.) and you need access to branches all over the country, I'd recommend US Bank. I travel a lot and I bank (and work) at a community bank. I think they have the most to offer, but that's just my $.02. By the way, I'm not just saying that because I work for one. I've always banked here, so it worked out nicely when I got a job with them. :)
Reply:Washington Mutual, if you have one un your area. DON'T use U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America. Money disappears from these places.
Reply:Try a credit union. Just make sure they belong to the Co-Op Network, because then you can use ATM's across the country for free.
Reply:if you have one try bank atlantic they are open 7 days a week and they don' t charge fees. they are open early and past 5 too. great bank .
Reply:Don't get a credit union account unless you have good credit. And with other banks, depending if your on ChexSystems or Telecheck they probably won't open an account for you.
Reply:Depends on where you live. I love Bank One/Chase. I have used Wells Fargo and Compass...both horrible banks!!

Good Luck!
Reply:Wachovia
Reply:arvest.....great prices and hours(8-8)mon-fri
Reply:DEFINITELY A CREDIT UNION IF YOU CAN. MANY MAJOR BANKS LIKE WACHOVIA AND BANK OF AMERICA ARE USING CUSTOMER SERVICE IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES WHICH MAKES AMERICANS LOSE JOBS. CREDIT UNIONS GIVE MORE PERSONAL SERVICE AND ARE CONTROLLED BY THE MEMBERS.
Reply:I would get an account with a local Credit Union. They are better then banks. Normaly no fees whatsoever and you get better service!
Reply:credit unions offer better benefits and options than any regular bank.
Reply:I like Bank of America. They have different accounts to chose from and they have Keep The Change. I use to bank with Amsouth but, I moved and they weren't big here. I had an account with a credit union and it isn't any different.
