Im 16. Earning money and I want to open a checking account. I do not want any stupid savings accounts that dont let me use money until im 18. Its my money and I should do whatever I want with it. I also want a debit card in MY name. What banks offer this. (parental signature needed?)
What banks let you have a checking account under 18?
Call the banks in your local area and ask them about the different accounts they offer. Since you are under 18, you will need a parent on the account as well. I have never heard of someone under 18 being on a checking account, however, I do not deal with the openings of new accounts at my work. You may need to get a savings account that has a debit card with it. Most savings accounts however, only allow you a certain number of withdrawals per month. These include withdrawaling money at the bank, ATM or using your debit card.
Have you looked to see what bank your paycheck is drawn on? If it is a local bank, take you state issued I.D. inside and have them cash it for free. Just a thought.
Reply:Paypal, or try RevolutionMoneyExchange.com, it was started by one of the Apple founders. He invested $500million of his own money to get it up and running. Should be a pretty safe bet.
You'll probably spend your money online anyway, so you might as well convert it to e-currency now.
