What bank should I use for my bank account?

I'm currently 14 and I want a bank account but I want to know which banks are the best? And tell me why? Tell me the good things and the bad things about some banks, give me some examples? Also, I live in Australia if that's any help... Thx!

The nice part of being under 18 is that most banks offer great deals for you usually no fees or unlimited deposits etc. Most banks offer basically the same deal, so probably the best one is to go to the bank closest by you.

banks usually offer you these kind of youth accounts

Savings- Where if you make at least one deposit a month (sometimes has to be $10) and No withdrawals, you get bonus interest (really good if you are trying to grow your money). Westpac has a cool one where if you save $100, and you call them, you get a bonus $50!

Chequing (sometimes offered)- No fees and unlimited withdrawals through teller or machine.

You might also consider opening a bank account where your parents bank. This makes it easier for them for let say if you go to Uni later on and they can transfer money to you, or some banks have it where they can transfer allowance from your parent's bank account right into yours etc.

Anyway, here are links to the 4 major banks in Australia and their youth programs. You might find better deals with credit unions or other smaller banks (such as Suncorp-Metway, St. Georges, Bendigo etc.)
